The Process
I want to take a moment to explain the process for the quilting of your pieced top. You can send me a photograph of your quilt and we can discuss general preferences, especially if you are looking for an all-over design. If you are looking for a more customized look - drop off your quilt or mail it to me, and I will take photographs of each block (where applicable) and make some sketches based on our conversations. I will send you the sketches and you can let me know if that is in keeping with your vision. If not, we will narrow down the options and take it from there. The price quoted includes 1 hours of consultation fees. If the process takes longer, there will be an additional fee added, but we can talk about that as we go!
Where it all starts
This is what a pieced top looks like before the quilting. It is a very nice block, but flat and it lacks dimension and texture. Together we take a look at your quilt and your blocks to determine what your vision is for your quilt. Do you want an "all over" design, or do you want to highlight some special focal points?? This is all discussed during the 1 hour consultation that is a part of every commission.
Planning
Once I have a photograph of your quilt top I can start providing options for the quilting. If you are looking for an all-over design we can talk about what fits best with your beautiful patch work. You have the last word on the final pattern - unless you trust me to rely on my experience in quilting 200+ quilts to leave the choice in my hands!
Final Product
This is just a sample of how the planning moves into completion. I wanted you to see that there is a lot of thought put into making your quilt top match your vision. You can also see how the quilting just brings the block to life. It is amazing that some "flat" can be transformed and the areas you love the most can be highlighted and brought to the front!
